Ohio State just doesn’t lose at home and they proved it again on Sunday winning for an unbelievable 200th time in a row as they handily beat a Top 25 South Florida team 4-0. The streak began all the way back on April 6th, 2003 with a win over Purdue and has grown and grown as the years have gone by. During the week I’m going to compile a list of everyone that Ohio State has beaten at home in the last 12 years so look for that no later than Wednesday. Here is a good article that Colette Lewis wrote on the streak back in 2013.
In my opinion the biggest surprise for Ohio State this year has been the play of Chris Diaz at #1. Last year the Columbus native struggled in the middle of the lineup and went just 11-15 in dual match play but this year he has more than held his own Roberto Cid, Shane Vinsant, Or-Ram Harel, and Lukas Ollert.

Wake Forest played its 3rd straight 5-2 match and after losing the 1st one to Oklahoma they’ve now made it 2 in a row as they defeated a reeling Tennessee team that has now dropped 4 straight. Wake won a tight doubles point which was decided by a tiebreak at #2 and also picked up a win at #1 doubles over the reigning NCAA Doubles Champs. 3 of Wake’s 4 freshman picked up wins with Mansouri, Seraphim, and Tabrizi winning at 4, 5, and 6 and only Noah Rubin’s loss at #1 in a 3rd set 10 point tiebreak soured the day.
The Vols, like many teams in the 15-30 range, are having a hard time finding quality depth at the bottom half of the line-up and they continue to get uneven production from the newcomers (Schipanski, Smelyanski, Valero, Jones) while also dealing with some injuries (Fickey/Smelyanski). One of the positives for UT has been the return to 2013 form (23-3) by #1 Mikelis Libietis after the big man struggled last year and finished 16-11 during the dual season. Libietis beat the reigning Wimbledon junior champion Noah Rubin in a 3rd set supertiebreak.

TCU’s final warm up for next week National Indoors was a successful one as they rolled into Tulsa and came out with a 4-0 win. Tulsa put up a fight on several courts with the Golden Hurricanes either leading or in striking distance on each of the 3 remaining courts but it was all for not as TCU got straight set wins from senior Arnau Dachs and a pair of guys that were ranked #2 (Nunez) and #3 (Norrie) in the ITA’s preseason newcomer/freshman rankings. TCU will likely be looking at a 1st round matchup against #3 Virginia next Friday so it will take a complete performance from everyone to keep it close.
