Southeast: The main draw got started on Friday and the host Florida Gators cleaned up going 8-0 which included Josh Wardell (13.18) beating Georgia’s Walker Duncan (13.68) 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. 11 of the top 16 seeds won their opening round match but Georgia’s Wayne Montgomery and South Florida’s Sasha Gozun weren’t 2 of them. Florida State’s Marco Nunez (13.41) upset the #2 seed Montgomery (14.51) 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 while Miami’s Max Andrews (13.56) beat the #8 seed Gozun (13.55) 6-3, 6-3.

Southern: Tulane occupies 3 of the 8 quarterfinal spots after Sebastian Rey (13.46) beat the #8 seed Ole Miss’s Filip Kraljevic (13.20) 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, Tyler Schick (12.97) beat Alabama’s Nikko Madregallejo (12.93) 6-3, 6-3, and Constantin Schmitz (13.71) beat the #5 seed Alabama’s Korey Lovett (13.19) 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.  Troy’s Giovani Samaha (12.75) upset the #2 seed Ole Miss’s Ricardo Jorge (12.92) 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 and South Alabama’s Tuki Jacobs (12.75) upset the #7 seed Alabama’s Mazen Osama (13.29) 3-6, 6-0, 6-2.

Ohio Valley: After 3 of the top 7 seeds went out on Day 1 things leveled out a bit on Friday with most of the higher seeds moving on.  A few of the surprises were Louisville’s Brandon Lancaster (13.09) knocking off the #11 seed Vanderbilt’s Kris Yee (13.64) 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 and Tennessee Tech’s Edu Mena (12.87) upsetting the #4 seed East Tennessee State’s David Biosca (13.41) 6-4, 6-4.

Carolina (Singles Draw): 12 of the top 15 seeds moved on to the 3rd round though Duke’s Vincent Lin, Charlotte’s Jordi Ferrer, UNCW’s Santtu Leskinen were the 3 to get knocked out. South Carolina’s Harrison O’Keefe (13.42) knocked off the #7 seed Lin (13.62) 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the first round, Duke’s Adrian Chamdani (13.05) beat the #9 seed Ferrer (13.05) 6-1, 6-3 in the second round, and Wake Forest’s Maksim Kan (13.15) defeated the #12 seed Leskinen (13.25) 7-6(4), 7-5 in the first round.
