ATP 250 Nottingham, Great Britain (Grass) – Steve Johnson (USC ’12) won his first-ever ATP level singles title after knocking off #25 Pablo Cuevas in straight sets. There were no breaks of serve in the opening set but Cuevas got the first mini-break in tiebreak and led 3-1. Johnson took the next four points to go up 5-3 and would end up taking the tiebreak 7-5. Johnson opened up a 4-2 lead in the second set but Cuevas fought off a break point to hold in a two-deuce game, broke from 30/40, and then held at love to go up 5-4. Johnson then held from 40/15, broke from 15/40, and then served it out in a one-deuce game to win it 7-6, 7-5 in 1 hour and 33 minutes.

Dane Webb (Oklahoma ’15) and Nate Lammons (SMU ’16) won the doubles title at the $25K Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA F21 Futures with a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10) win over Clay Thompson (UCLA ’14) and Rikus de Villiers (Fresno State ’11). Webb/Lammons jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third set supertiebreak but Thompson/de Villiers fought off a match point at 9-8 and won both points on serve to go up 10-9. Webb/Lammons won both points on their serve to go up 11-10 and then got the mini-break to win it 12-10. It was the first career pro title for both Webb and Lammons.
Former Illinois teammates Farris Gosea (’15) and Tim Kopinski (’15) came up short in the doubles final falling to the top seeds Philip Bester and Peter Polansky 7-6(2), 6-2.
Polmans led 3-1 in the second before Lock broke from 30/40 and held from 40/30 to even it at 3-3. Neither player would face another break point the rest of the set although Lock went up a mini-break in the tiebreak at 3-2. Polmans fought off a set point on Lock’s serve to pull within 6-5 but Lock took the tiebreak on the next point for a 7-6(5) set.
Polmans broke from 15/40 to go up 2-1 in the third but Lock broke back and then held at love to go up 3-2. Lock broke from 15/40 to take a 4-2 lead but Polmans broke back on a one-deuce game and then held on a three-deuce game to even it at 4-4. Lock held at love for 5-4, Polmans held at 40/15 for 5-5, Lock held at love for 6-5, and then Lock broke from 30/40 to win it 5-7, 7-6(5), 7-5 in 3 hours and 35 minutes.
Benjamin and his brother Courtney (UNLV Jr) came up short in an attempt to win a doubles title for the second week in a row after falling to Hugo Nys and Andrea Vavassori 6-3, 6-3

$10K Barranquilla, Colombia, F2 Futures – Roberto Cid (South Florida ’16) won his first career pro singles title with a straight set win over the No. 2 seed #377 Facundo Mena. Cid broke Mena from 15/40 to go up 3-1 in the first and then broke him again at love to go up 5-1. Cid held in a one-deuce game to take the set 6-1. Cid broke Mena in a one-deuce game to go up 3-2 in the second and then broke him again in a two-deuce game to go up 5-2. Cid served out the championship in a two-deuce game to win it 6-1, 6-2.
$25K Palma Del Rios, Spain, F18 (Hard) – Remi Boutillier (Fresno State ’12) lost in the finals for the second week in a row after suffering a straight sets defeat to #365 Akira Santillan. Santillan broke Boutillier from 30/40 to take the opening set 7-5 and then he broke at love to take a 3-1 lead in the second. Boutillier wasn’t able to recover and would fall 7-5, 6-3.
