Brayden Schnur won his second career pro singles title on Sunday with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Tim van Rijthoven at the $25K Canada F6 Futures in Calgary. Schnur, who turned pro in July after completing his junior year at North Carolina, broke van Rijthoven from 30/40 to go up 5-3 in the first set before serving it out from 40/15 to take the set 6-3. Van Rijthoven broke twice in the second set in route to a 6-3 set but Schnur would come back in the third. Schnur broke from 15/40 to go up 4-2 and he’d serve it out a few games later to close out the match.

Missouri named Colt Gaston as the interim women’s head coach on July 29th and on Saturday they officially named him as the new head coach. Gaston was the assistant coach last year at Mizzou and was promoted to associate head coach shortly after the season ended. Gaston replaces Sasha Schmid who left after five seasons to take the women’s head coaching job at Iowa.

Armando Soemarno (Oregon Rising Soph) won his first career pro title in his native Indonesia as he and Sunu-Wahyu Trijati defeated Kunal Anand and Anvit Bendre 6-0, 6-4 at the $10K Indonesia F3 Futures in Jakarta. Soemarno picked up his first-ever ATP doubles point last week when he and Trijati made it to the semis at the Indonesia F2.

Victor Vlad Cornea (MTSU/Texas Tech ’15) won his fourth doubles title of the year, 10th of his career, as he and Victor-Mugurel Anagnastopol defeated Vasile Antonescu and Mircea-Alexandru Jecan 4-6, 7-6(6), 1-0 (8) at the $10K Romania F15 Futures in Brasov.  Cornea and Anagnastopol trailed 6-4, 4-2 but after holding on the no-ad point they broke at love to even it at 4-4. The next four games went to the no-ad point with the server each time so off to a tiebreak they went. Cornea and Anagnastopol led 6-3 but after dropping three straight they took the next two to force a third set. Cornea and Anagnastopol trailed 8-5 in the supertiebreak but they won the last five to win it 10-8.

Anis Ghorbel (Drake ’13) made it to his fifth career pro singles final but unfortunately he came up short falling to Karim-Mohamed Maamoun 6-3, 6-1 in the finals of the $10K Egypt Futures in Sharm El Sheikh. Ghorbel also made it to the doubles final but he and Pedro Bernardi fell to Jordi Munoz-Abreu and David Perez Sanz 7-6(4), 7-5.

Jakob Sude (Oklahoma State ’15) was looking for his second doubles title of the year and fifth of his career but it wasn’t to be as he and Billy Harris fell 6-0, 6-2 to Adam and Jason Taylor in the finals of the $10K Belgium Futures in Middelkerke.

Alexis Klegou (Texas A&M ’12) and Maxime Mora (Oklahoma) lost a tough doubles final 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (4) to Eduard Esteve Lobato and Pedro Martinez Portero at the $10K Spain F28 Futures in Donostia-San-Sebastian. Klegou and Mora jumped out to a 3-0* lead in the third set supertiebreak but then they dropped 10 of the next 11 points to fall 10-4.
