The third annual American Collegiate Invitational begins tomorrow at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center with an eight-person draw in both men’s and women’s singles. The fields are comprised of the top two players in the ATP/WTA rankings (as of July 18) and the top five players in the year-end Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings (excluding those selected by pro ranking), including at least two graduating seniors or players who have turned pro/exhausted their collegiate eligibility. Georgia junior Paul Oosterbaan was originally selected to participate but he had to withdraw due to an injury so Northwestern senior Konrad Zieba filled the opening.

D2 powerhouse Armstrong State announced that Max Sukalo will be the Pirates new men’s and women’s assistant coach. Sukalo, who is a 2007 Arizona graduate, served as the men’s and women’s head coach for D3’s Adrian (MI) College for the past two seasons. Jamison Clark was the assistant last season at ASU but I’m not sure where he went.
