Qualifying for November’s National Indoor Intercollegiates in New York City is underway at 8 different sites across the country. There are 12 ITA Regions on both the men’s and women’s sides with the winner at each location earning a spot in the main draw at the last big event on the fall college tennis schedule. The other 16 regionals (8 men/8 women) will take place next week.

Down at the bottom of this post I have a list of those that have already qualified for the NIICs so I wouldn’t expect to see any of them participating at an ITA Regional (unless they are trying to qualify for doubles). Players must at least make the quarterfinals to be eligible for an at-large entry into the NIICs.

Below are the top 8 seeds at each of the 8 regional along with a link to streaming video (if available).

Men’s Regionals

Northwest (Cal) – play got started on Thursday with all the top 8 seeds advancing to the Round of 32 but there were a couple of upsets on Friday – Portland’s Mathieu Garcia defeated the No. 2 seed Stanford’s David Wilczynski 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 and UC Davis’ James Wade upended the No. 4 seed Washington’s Mitch Stewart 7-5, 5-7, 6-1.

Mountain (New Mexico) – play began on Wednesday and will finish on Sunday – New Mexico’s Andrea LeBlanc was the only top 8 seed knocked out before the Round of 16 but the No. 2 seed Colorado’s Nuria Ruiz fell in the Round of 16 to Nevada’s Sheila Morales.
