The top three seeds are still alive in each men’s regional except for the Mountain which lost it’s top seed on Thursday and it’s second seed today.

Southwest (Pepperdine) – Singles/Doubles Draws – 14 of the top 16 seeds advanced on Day 1 and 12 of the remaining 14 advanced to the Round of 16 on Day 2.  San Diego’s Joel Gamerov (UTR 12.47) defeated the No. 11 seed USC’s Rob Bellamy (13.76) 6-2, 6-2 and UCSB’s Morgan Mays (13.33) rolled over the No. 12 seed San Diego’s Guus Koevemans (13.73) 6-2, 6-2. The Round of 16 matches begin at 10:45 a.m pacific with the quarterfinals scheduled for roughly 2 p.m. pacific.

Mountain (Las Vegas) – Singles/Doubles Draws – the higher seed won three of four quarterfinal matches on Friday with the lone upset coming when Utah’s Santiago Sierra (12.91) upset his teammate the No. 2 seed David Micevski (13.49) 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Texas (TCU) – Singles/Doubles Draws – Most of the top 32 seeds had easy wins on Friday however there were a few surprises. Incarnate Word’s Francisco Bendana (UTR12.16) stunned the No. 9 seed Texas Tech’s Bjorn Thomson (13.70) 6-4, 1-6, 6-1; Lamar’s Sebastian Santibanez (12.53) defeated the No. 19 seed Texas Tech’s Ronit Bisht (13.63) 7-5, 6-0; Lamar’s Nikita Lis (13.14) crushed the No. 22 seed Baylor’s Constantin Frantzen (13.20) 6-1, 6-0; and Texas A&M’s James Martell (12.46) beat the No. 25 seed Texas’s Colin Markes (13.42) 6-2, 6-7, 6-3
 
Notes – Texas A&M’s AJ Catanzariti, who was the No. 12 seed, had to withdraw since he was playing his quarterfinal match at the Pro Futures event in Harlingen, Texas (lost to former Florida State #1 Ben Lock 7-6, 6-2). The No. 8 seed Texas A&M’s Jordi Arconada and the No. 16 seed SMU’s Ronald Slobodchikov both pulled out for personal reasons. Arconada played in Harlingen earlier in the week and qualified before falling in the first round while Slobodchikov played in qualies of the Las Vegas Challenger falling in the opening round.

Central (Oklahoma State) – Singles Top & Bottom/Doubles – Streaming Video – there were no huge surprises on Friday however Oklahoma State’s Julian Cash had to come back from a set down to defeat Iowa’s Robin Haden in three sets. I’ve not seen actual updated draws but here are all of Friday’s results and below are Saturday’s Round of 16 matches – several good ones.

Ohio Valley (Tennessee) – Singles/Doubles Draws – Tennessee’s Luca Wiedenmann (12.40) and Middle Tennessee State’s Luis Morillo (12.26) were the only unseeded players to advance to the Round of 16 after Wiedenmann knocked off the No. 4 seed Memphis’s Andrew Watson (13.98) while Morillo beat the No. 26 seed East Tennessee State’s Miguel Este (13.20). The Round of 16 begins at 9 a.m. central on Saturday with the quarterfinals set to follow at 12:30 p.m.
