Many of the top seeds had free passes on Friday but the rest had to grind out tougher matches. Five of the top eight seeds are into the quarterfinals of the Southwest Regional in San Diego while five of the top eight still remain in Waco though they’ve only reached the Round of 16.
Northwest (Stanford) – Singles/Doubles Draws – Streaming $ via FloTennis – the main draw got started on Friday with San Jose State’s Sybille Gauvain (10.40) pulling off the biggest upset when she defeated the No. 4 seed Cal’s Denise Starr (11.38) 7-5, 6-0. Stanford’s Taylor Davidson, who was the No. 2 seed, pulled out for unknown reasons.

UCLA’s Jada Hart is the only unseeded player remaining after she bounced the No. 4 seed USC’s Madison Westby 6-2, 6-4.
