The Mountain Region crowned it’s singles and doubles champions on Sunday while the other seven regions having either a Monday or Tuesday final. The top four seeds made it to the singles semifinals of the Southwest Regional with USC’s Thibault Forget and UCLA’s Gage Brymer picking up wins while UCSB’s Simon Freund and Morgan Mays won a pair of nailbiters to claim the doubles crown.

The top four seeds also made it to the singles semifinals at the Texas Regional with the top seed Texas A&M’s Arthur Rinderknech and the second seed Texas Tech’s Jolan Cailleau advancing to Monday’s final. Rinderknech will also be playing for the doubles crown as he and Max Lunkin face TCU’s Reese Stalder and Trevor Johnson.

It looked like it might be an All-Arkansas singles final at the Central Regional but Minnesota junior Matic Spec crashed the party after he came back from a set down to defeat both Oklahoma’s Alex Ghilea and Arkansas’s Mike Redlicki.

Michigan is guaranteed to have a participant in the singles final after both Myles Schalet and Kevin Wong won their quarterfinal matches on Sunday with the two Wolverines now set to meet in the semifinals. Wong has another big match scheduled for Monday when he and Jathan Malik meet Valparaiso’s Charlie Emhardt/Jeffrey Schorsch in the doubles final. Emhardt and Schorsch made the doubles final a year ago before falling to Notre Dame’s Alex Lawson and Quentin Monaghan. Ohio State’s Herkko Pollanen, who is the defending champion, will square off against Northwestern’s Strong Kirchheimer in a rise and shine 8:00 a.m. eastern tilt. The singles final will be played a few hours later with the start time depending on whether Michigan’s Kevin Wong wins his semifinal match – if Wong does win then it’d be a 1 p.m. start since he’s playing in the doubles final at 10; if Wong loses then it’d be an estimated 10 a.m. start.

Columbia’s Shawn Hadavi is the only top eight seed remaining at the Northeast Regional while his teammate William Matheson is the only qualifier still in the main draw. They will play two flights of singles on Monday along with the doubles semifinals.

Kentucky’s Trey Yates advanced to the singles final at the Ohio Valley Regional after knocking out the top seed Vanderbilt’s Danny Valent. Yates will meet Memphis’s Ryan Peniston after the Memphis junior pulled out a third set tiebreak against Yates’s teammate Beck Pennington. Peniston will to attempt to become the second player in school history to win an ITA Regional with his teammate Andrew Watson winning the title in 2014.

Georgia’s Wayne Montgomery will take on Florida State’s Guy Iradukunda in the Southeast Region singles final. Montgomery, who is the top seed, has only dropped one set this week while Iradukunda, who was the ITA National Junior College Player of the Year last year, has won his last three matches in straight sets after a pair of three-setters to start off the week.

“Pang and Donovan are the number one doubles team in the Big West and a very good team, so that’s a great win,” said head coach Marty Davis. “They had just won the Battle of the Bay up in San Francisco, so to beat them as the No. 2 seed here to get to the finals was very impressive.

“They (Di Giulio and Rapp) had match-point in the tiebreaker, but Morgan served at 8-9 and won it, just barely,” Davis said. “Simon had a fabulous return and volley for the win.”

“They had never played together before this tournament,” he said. “It’s a credit to them that they were able to play as well as they did when they had never played together before. I expect we’ll keep them together for a while.”
