Virginia’s new Director of Tennis and Men’s Head Coach Andres Pedroso met with the media to talk about his hiring and his upcoming plans. Pedroso was asked when he knew about the opening and how he made it known that he was interested in the job. He also talks about what his role will be in hiring a women’s coach along with replacing someone as successful as Brian Boland.
I read a good article that Jerry Bembry from The Undefeated wrote on NCAA Singles Champion Brienne Minor. It talks about Minor’s tennis upbringing, her sisters that both played collegiately, and her path to the NCAA finals. Full article is available at this

Bobby, recently lists came out ranking the top recruiting classes for 2017. I know the recruiting of US juniors happens earlier than in the past. Is international recruiting now also happening earlier or are a lot of offers still coming in the summer for international recruits to start in fall or January? What % of international recruits would you guesstimate have committed for next year at this point? I ask because I wonder how accurate the recruiting lists are. I did see 200 international players have already committed to D1 schools for 2017 on TRN and about 250 US juniors but that is across all levels of D1. It seems like there has been a fair amount of tweets this spring for international commits, but there are also players with high ITF rankings who probably will play college not showing up as committed yet. Also we know US recruits who know their coaches will add one international recruit this summer, but the players have not been finalized yet.
I haven't notice more internationals committing earlier so far – seems like about the same amount as in years past. Just my opinion but I'd say at least 90%, maybe 95%, of internationals have already committed though the remaining 5-10% are probably the guys that may have the chance to make the biggest impact. Couple of last minute guys last year were Borna Gojo (Wake), Artur Dubinski (Okla St), Valentin Vacherot (TAMU), & Alastair Gray (TCU) though Gray wasn't able to get eligible in time. Would be interesting track though.
