Georgia Tech rising senior Chris Eubanks and 2012 Georgia Tech graduate Kevin King lost in the doubles final last week in Winston-Salem but this week they struck pay dirt and won the title with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Dominik Koepfer (Tulane ’16) and Luis David Martinez. Eubanks and King only faced two breaks points all match and they fought both off while breaking their opponents two times. Eubanks and King both won their quarterfinal singles matches and will meet in the semifinals just six days after playing in the final last week. Eubanks defeating USC rising sophomore Riley Smith 7-6(2), 6-4 while King defeated Henry Craig (Denver ’16) 6-2, 6-4. The top seed Austin Krajicek (Texas A&M ’11) will face Tommy Paul in the other semifinal after Krajicek came back from 3-1 down in the third set to defeat Jose “Rubin’ Statham 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Ohio State’s Mikael Torpegaard and Hugo Di Feo won the doubles title at the USA F20 Futures in Rochester, New York. Torpegaard and Di Feo defeated recent Virginia graduates Thai Kwiatkowski and Luca Corinteli 7-6(5), 6-4 in a match the Buckeye duo led nearly wire to wire. Torpegaard also advanced to the semifinals of the singles draw after his opponent Alex Knight (Michigan Rising Sr) retired 18 minutes into the match after falling behind 4-0. Torpegaard, who is the top seed, will now face the No. 3 seed Kaichi Uchida after Uchida defeated Thai Kwiatkowski 6-3, 6-1. Sam Monette (Indiana ’16) advanced to his first career semifinal after getting a walkover win against Alexios Halebian and will now meet Chile’s Gonzalo Lama.
Mississippi State rising junior Nuno Borges advanced to both the singles semifinals and doubles final at the $25K Portugal F8 Futures in Lisbon. Borges needed just 56 minutes to rout the No. 6 seed Frederick Gil (ATP 477) 6-0, 6-2 and now he’ll face David Vega Hernandez (ATP 689) in Saturday’s semifinals. Borges and his doubles partner Francisco Cabral only needed 63 minutes to advanceto the doubles final with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Nathan Eshmade (UCSB ’16) and Benard Nkoma. In the final they’ll face the top seeds Sam Barry and Bradley Mousley.
In the other semifinal in Lisbon it’ll be the No. 2 seed Joao Monteiro (Virginia Tech ’16) facing the No. 7 seed Andre Gaspar Murta. Monteiro came back from a 6-4, 5-3 deficit against Gonzalo Escobar (Texas Tech ’12) to win 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-3. Escobar had a match point in his 5-3 service game and then he led 5-0 in the second set tiebreak and had match points at 6-3, 6-4, and 6-5 but couldn’t close it out.

David O’Hare (Memphis ’14) won his 15th doubles title as he and Frederik Nielsen defeated Adrien Bossell and Matteo Viola 6-1, 7-6(1) at the $25K Spain F18 Futures in Palma del Rio. O’Hare currently has a doubles ranking of 141 and has a career high ranking of 117.
