Vanderbilt junior Fernanda Contreras captured the Riviera/ITA All-American Singles Championship on Sunday afternoon with a straight set win over fellow qualifier Florida Atlantic sophomore Aliona Bolsova. Contreras, who had to win three matches in the qualifying draw just to make the main draw, broke Bolsova to go ahead 3-2 in the first set and then she added another break to take the set 6-3. In the second set Contreras broke midway through the set and then served it out to win 6-3, 6-3. Vanderbilt’s recap has a brief video interview with Contreras and the ITA did a great job on its post-match video recap which is just below.

North Carolina sophomore William Blumberg and UCLA senior Martin Redlicki will square off Monday morning in the finals of the Saint Francis Health System All-American Championships.
Blumberg advanced to the finals with a tough three set win over the top seed Ohio State senior Mikael Torpegaard. Blumberg won a big no-ad point to hold for 5-4 in the first set and he’d go on to take the set in a tiebreak 7-3. In the second set, Torpegaard broke Blumberg to go up 5-3 but Blumberg broke back at love and then held for 5-5. After an exchange of holds Torpegaard led the tiebreak 4-2 at the changeover and would go on to take it 7-3. In the third and final set, Blumberg jumped out to a 4-1 lead but Torpegaard held and broke on the no-ad point to put it back on serve at 4-3. Blumberg broke back for 5-3 and then after falling behind 15/40 he came back to hold on the no-ad point to close it out 7-6, 6-7, 6-3.
Redlicki and Oregon junior Thomas Laurent exchanged holds in the opening set until Redlicki broke from 15/40 to take the set 6-4. Laurent broke Redlicki to start the second set and held for 2-0 but Redlicki picked up a big no-ad break to even it at 2-2 and added one more break to close it out 6-4, 6-3.
