As I mentioned yesterday in my men’s recap this set of rankings is the first set of computerized team rankings after having a ranking committee make all the selections up until now. The computer ranks teams based off their four best wins with all losses also included in the equation. The teams that racked up a lot of wins with very few losses were rewarded while the ones that haven’t played much were penalized. If you team is lower than expected be patient; if your team is higher than expected don’t become overly confident. With each passing week more best wins are added to the equation so as that number increases the rankings become credible. Next week the number rises to five and by NCAA Tournament selection time it’s up to nine so trust me it will work itself out.
Florida as expected remained at No. 1 with the Gators having the best resume by far after winning the National Team Indoors two weeks ago. Ohio State moved up from No. 3 to No. 2 while North Carolina dropped from No. 2 to No. 3. The reason for the switch despite UNC’s H2H win is because of Ohio State’s win over Michigan last week which gave them four top 10 wins while North Carolina has just two. Michigan leaped up from No. 10 to No. 4 with the Wolverines having four top 25 wins and Texas Tech moved up two spots from No. 7 to No. 5
Baylor made the biggest jump by going from unranked to No. 10 with the Bears out to a 6-1 start with a road win at Northwestern and notable home wins over Rice, Washington, and Oregon.
Kansas earned a program high ranking of No. 14 with the Jayhawks off to a 5-2 start which includes road wins over NC State, Wichita State, and William & Mary plus a home win over Clemson. NC State earned a program high ranking of No. 16 with the Wolfpack off to an 8-2 start. The Pack has notable wins over Arkansas and William & Mary.

Ohio State sophomore Francesca Di Lorenzo remains at the top spot in the singles rankings while UCLA freshman Ena Shibahara moves up one spot from No. 3 to No. 2. North Carolina senior Hayley Carter moves up two spots from No. 5 to No. 3, North Carolina freshman Sara Daavettila drops two spots from No. 2 to No. 4, and Vanderbilt junior Astra Sharma drops one spots from No. 4 to No. 5.
