Oregon recap: Nils Schyllander, Head Coach
On the weekend – “It was a really good weekend. We got to play a lot of tennis, and I felt the guys really took a step in the right direction and were able to play consistent tennis throughout the weekend.”

On the performances by Thomas Laurent and Cormac Clissold – “Cormac had one of the better weekends he’s had since he’s been here, and I think Thomas had to play his best tennis to get out ahead. They both played at a really high level and it was a joy to watch them both compete.”

We are closing out the fall season healthy and playing very good as a group, so there really isn’t much more that I could ask for at this point.

NC State recap: “If you would have asked me a year ago if I would be happy with our team going 14-4 in a Fall event, then I would have said, ‘heck yes! Where do I sign up for that?’ It’s a measure of how far that the program has come that we leave this event wanting more. I’m very proud that we can now head into an event like this and meet expectations, that’s a great feeling. The next step is to exceed expectations and that’s exactly what all of us are here to accomplish,” said head coach Simon Earnshaw.

“The first two days, the girls did a fantastic job of competing and executing everything that we work on in practice. This morning, we made an excellent start in doubles and were able to ride some momentum there. I had a hunch Martina and Anna would do well together, they showed excellent discipline and energy together as a team throughout the weekend. Going into singles, I’m not sure whether we got a little uncomfortable trying to put a real exclamation mark on our Fall season. Our head-space and attitude in general didn’t necessarily allow us to play that freely and I know that the girls weren’t happy with their performances no matter the outcome. Obviously their opponents contributed to that, as they should in Finals. Marker (Arizona) was particularly tough today right from the first point against Martina, and we just couldn’t gain a solid foothold. Today was a good learning experience and will help us to be more composed, to allow for a better chance to play our best tennis next time we are in this situation. I have a lot of belief in this team and these girls. Overall, we’ve made massive progress again this semester, that’s easy to see even just on the surface, statistically. The focus shifts ahead of the holidays to making sure we take care of everything academically, but I know that one eye is already on the spring. Go Pack!!”
