Sunday brings us 3 matches between Top 15 teams with the headliner taking place in Indian Wells between #1 Oklahoma and #3 Baylor. The other 2 big ones are in Oxford where #13 Ole Miss hosts #15 Florida and in Durham where #6 Duke hosts #12 Wake Forest. It should also be mentioned that all 3 are rematches from earlier in the year with 2 playing each other during the Kickoff Weekend and the other meeting at the National Indoors. #1 Oklahoma (16-1) vs. #3 Baylor (14-2) – 1pm est/10am pst – This will be a rematch from the National Indoor Semifinals which was a match Oklahoma won 4-2 (box score below). Baylor had its chances in the match and had Mate Zsiga not let a 6-4, 5-2 lead slip away at #5 singles the outcome could have been different. The only singles court which projects to be a rematch is at #1 singles and that was the only court that didn’t finish last time. Baylor has been far and away the better team in doubles so the Bears will look to get that early 1-0 lead like they have in every match that the doubles point has been played. #2 singles – Lupieri took one on the chin against USC’s Roberto Quiroz falling 6-4, 6-3 while Alvarez ran his winning streak to 14 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Columbia’s Dragos Ignat. Prediction: Alvarez in 2
#3 singles – Tchoutakian came up short against USC’s Eric Johnson losing 6-3, 7-5 which stopped his 4-match winning streak while Webb provided the clincher against Columbia with a 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 win over Max Schnur which means Webb has won 12 of his last 13. Prediction: Webb in 2
#4 singles – Schneider saw his 6-match winning streak gets snapped with a 6-2, 7-5 loss to USC’s Jonny Wang while Ghilea’s match against Columbia Ashok Narayana went unfinished with Ghilea trailing 3-2 in the 3rd. Prediction: Schneider in 3.

#15 Florida (9-5) at #13 Ole Miss (11-4) – 12pm est/11am cst – This will be a rematch from the Kickoff Weekend which saw Ole Miss win 4-3 in Gainesville (box score below). In that match Ole Miss got it done in singles after dropping the doubles point and I think we’ll see a similar type of result today. Ole Miss is 9-6 in doubles while Florida is 8-6 so neither team has been too sharp to start off the match. Ole Miss most likely will be a man down with its #4 William Kallberg recovering from an ankle injury but the Rebels strength is its top 3 and I think that’s where Ole Miss gets it done today. I like Ole Miss in doubles and at 1, 2, and 3 singles in a match that will likely be played indoors at Ole Miss’s 3 court facility due to rain in the area. If played indoors I’ll go with Ole Miss to win 4-1. If played outdoors I’ll take Ole Miss 4-2.
