Alabama missed out on last year’s NCAA Tournament by one spot so in the offseason men’s head coach George Husack overhauled the roster and brought in five newcomers. On Monday afternoon all five of those newcomers were in the lineup and played a pivotal roll in the Crimson Tide’s tight 4-2 win over East Tennessee State. Southern Illinois women’s head coach Audra Anderson was promoted to the Director of Tennis and will now assume the role as the new men’s head coach after the departure of Dann Nelson to UTRGV. Anderson has gone 140-83 (.627) in nine seasons at SIU which gives her the best winning percentage in school history. Jonny Rigby, who graduated this past May, will serve as a graduate assistant for a program that is now going year-to-year due to the financial woes in the state of Illinois. New Mexico VP of Athletics Paul Krebs named Stephanie Wooten-Quijada as the Lobo’s new women’s coach. Wooten-Quijada, a 2009 Purdue graduate, resigned as the women’s coach at UTRGV on July 24 after leading the program to an 11-11 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Florida State head coach Dwayne Hultquist announced the hiring of Ryler DeHeart as the Seminoles new associate head coach. DeHeart played collegiately at Illinois from 2003 to 2006 and then spent the five years afterwards on the pro tour. DeHeart had been the assistant coach under George Husack at Alabama for the last four years so now that means the Crimson Tide are on the market for an assistant.
