For the second time this week No. 2 Ohio State came up short in the state of Texas after No. 11 Texas A&M rallied to win 4-3.Ohio State jumped out to the early 1-0 lead after claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Saturday was a busy day out west with USC and Baylor advancing to the finals of the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge while Oregon defeated Tulane to win the San Diego Spring Break Tournament. Virginia played its first competitive match in a month and dominated Notre Dame in South Bend. Mississippi State, Auburn, and Florida each went on the road in the SEC and won 4-3 matches.USC booked its spot in Sunday’s final with a 4-1 win over No. 9 Oklahoma. The College MatchDay series wrapped up its Lake Nona schedule on Tuesday evening with a top two showdown between No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Ohio State. Florida’s No. 3 doubles team of Josie Kuhlman and Belinda Woolcock went down an early break at 2-1 but they broke back from 30/40 and held for 3-2. This has been a season of firsts for Cornell with the Big Red achieving a program high ranking of No. 18 a few weeks ago and then today they picked up their first ever top 10 win after going into Norman and defeating Oklahoma 4-3. The day didn’t start off very promising for Cornell because Oklahoma rolled through the doubles point picking up a 6-2 win at No. 2 and a 6-0 win at No. 3. The teams split first sets in singles and three of the six would finish in straight sets. The last time Oklahoma came into Columbus they broke Ohio State’s 200-match home court winning streak but on Sunday afternoon the only thing they’d break would be a few strings. Oklahoma looked poised to take the early lead after picking up a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles but they’d let break leads slip away on the other two courts.
