Friday brought us seven matchups between top 25 teams with five taking place on the men’s side and two on the women’s side. The only top 10 matchup took place in Nashville with fifth-ranked Vanderbilt hosting sixth-ranked South Carolina. The Gamecocks hadn’t beaten Vandy in Nashville since 2005 but the 14 year drought came to end thanks to a few key points in doubles and then getting all around strong play throughout the singles lineup. South Carolina grabbed the early lead after taking the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 1 and a 7-6(4) win at No. 2. In singles, SC claimed four opening sets and they’d manage to close three out...

TCU’s west coast trip has been a good one so far as the Horned Frogs won their third straight with a 6-1 win at UC Santa Barbara. TCU won the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 then they took four first sets in singles. Cameron Norrie, Guillermo Nunez, and Reese Stalder won in straight sets with Nunez clinching at No. 3. Alex Rybakov and Jerry Lopez won in third sets while UCSB’s Chase Masciorini double-bageled Gianni Mancini at No. 6. I’m not sure how Masciorini’s match didn’t finish first but according to the box score it was the second to last match to finish. With three straight wins, @RoditiTCUTennis’s hat...

It seems like usually when USC and UCLA meet the match comes down to a deciding court but that was not the case tonight. USC jumped out to the early 1-0 lead after picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 and then the Trojans took four opening sets in singles. Three weeks ago when these teams met Thibault Forget lost to Austin Rapp in three sets at No. 4 but tonight Forget cruised to a straight set win over Rapp at No. 5. In the last meeting, USC freshman Brandon Holt lost the decider to Martin Redlicki 6-4 in the third but tonight Holt got revenge with a straight set win which made it 3-0. UCLA senior Gage Brymer put the Bruins on the board with a straight set win...

What a crazy day it was on Sunday with not one, not two, but three regional hosts going down. The day started off in College Station with the resumption of Saturday’s match between Texas A&M and Texas and it finished in Lubbock with SMU kicking the door down and stunning Texas Tech. When the season started if you told me that Texas would be in Tulsa for the NCAA Round of 16 I would have told you to go see a doctor. Well Texas made a believer of me and many today after going into enemy territory and knocking off Texas A&M in a 4-3 thriller. The match originally began on Saturday but after Texas A&M took the doubles point the match was stopped...

It’s hard to believe that going into the fall Matt Roberts only had two returning players from his 2014-15 squad yet here we sit today with Mississippi State heading to the Round of 16 after routing Illinois 4-0.State got off to a quick start in doubles and went up early breaks at No. 2 and No. 3. State’s No. 3 team of Rishab Agarwal and Niclas Braun would win four straight games to go up 5-2 and they’d end up winning 6-3. State’s Trevor Foshey and Luka Sucevic led 4-2 at No. 2 but Illinois’s Alex Jesse and Aiden Jiang would end up breaking back and forcing a tiebreak. Before the tiebreak really got going State’s No. 1 team...
