Texas picked up win #300 for head coach Michael Center with a hard fought 4-1 win over Texas Tech. The Red Raiders won the doubles point by winning tiebreaks at 2 and 3 but Texas was able to rally with singles wins from Soren Hess-Olesen, Adrien Berkowicz, Nick Naumann, and Clement Homs. Saturday brings us a pair of Top 25 matches with #9 Texas hosting #21 Texas Tech and #10 TCU hosting #22#21 Texas Tech (16-5) at #9 Texas (15-3) – 4pm est (Longhorn Network) – Texas Tech is coming off a close 4-2 loss to TCU while Texas lost to Oklahoma 4-1 last Sunday. The top 25 showdown between South Florida and Minnesota may have finished 4-3 but it wasn’t that close as South Florida cruised to the doubles point and then picked up 4 opening sets and ended up sweeping the top 3 courts. It was a rainy Sunday across much of the country and while several matches were cancelled due to a lack of indoor courts those that had them put them to use. The matches that were cancelled were Tulsa at Texas A&M, Tennessee vs. Georgia Southern (@ Troy, AL), and a pair of consolation matches at the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Alabama – Boise State vs. Alabama and Auburn vs. Mississippi State. Baylor’s home match with UCLA was moved indoors and in the blink of an eye it was over with the Bears rocking UCLA 4-0 in less than 2 hours.
