TRN Releases Its Recruiting Rankings, Weekend Warriors, Southern Illinois Programs Eliminated

The Tennis Recruiting Network (TRN) released it’s Winter Rankings of the Top 25 Women’s Recruiting Classes for the Class of 2017 and coming in at No. 1 was Jeff Wallace’s Georgia Bulldogs. Wallace signed a pair of blue chippers for next fall in Oklahoma’s Morgan Coppoc (11.16) and California’s Annette Goulak (10.67) along with Katarina Jokic (12.23) from Bosnia/Herzegovina. Coppoc is the top rated recruit in the Gulf States and has been ranked as high as sixth in the country while Goulak is the fourth rated recruit in California and has been ranked as high as 19th in the country. Southern Illinois women’s head coach Audra Anderson was promoted to the Director of Tennis and will now assume the role as the new men’s head coach after the departure of Dann Nelson to UTRGV. Anderson has gone 140-83 (.627) in nine seasons at SIU which gives her the best winning percentage in school history. Jonny Rigby, who graduated this past May, will serve as a graduate assistant for a program that is now going year-to-year due to the financial woes in the state of Illinois. MVC Saturday Recap: Wichita State & Drake Will Meet In The Finals

The finals are set at the 2016 Missouri Valley Championships after both Wichita State and Drake ran through their competition from Illinois. In the opening match of the day the No. 1 seed Wichita State met the No. 3 seed Illinois State. The weather wasn’t exactly ideal at match time (53 degrees/15 mph winds/overcast) but it improved as the day went on.Wichita State’s No. 2 team of Miroslav Herzan and Haru Inoue didn’t have any issues with the conditions as they rolled, and I mean rolled, to a 6-0 win over Illinois State’s Christoffer Greve and Dylan Steffens in a match that took all of 11 minutes.It only took 11 minutes for...
